laclair-technologies / workshop --:--

A small independent technology studio in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

LaClair Technologies is one person, a workshop, and a handful of projects that try to be useful and honest. Apps with strong privacy posture, websites for Main Street businesses that aren’t trying to trick anyone, and quiet homelab infrastructure that mostly runs itself.

I’m Patrick. I’ve spent most of my career in the IT industry — enterprise systems, MSP work, healthcare compliance, the unsexy stuff that has to work every day. LaClair Technologies is where I put the things I build for the joy of it, and for neighbors who deserve better than the templated marketing-agency web.

One more thing up front: I’m a single dad, and the IT career above is a real full-time role — not a past tense. Both of those are serious commitments that don’t get moved around, so the workshop runs on evenings, early mornings, and the edges of weekends. Which means flexibility isn’t optional here — it’s the whole operating model. If you need someone on chat between 8 and 5, this isn’t the shop. If you can live with thoughtful async, clear turnaround commitments, and meetings scheduled around real-life edges, we’ll get along fine.

Software should feel like a well-made tool — honest, quiet, and a little bit kind.

I ship slowly on purpose. I care about accessibility, privacy, and typography. I’d rather release nothing than release something that wastes your attention. Most of what lives here started because I wanted it to exist and nothing on the market quite fit — a calculator I’d actually reach for, a calendar that respects how people really plan, a VoIP client that respects who you’re calling. Apps with a purpose, built to still feel good in five years.

This isn’t a sales page. No funnel, no “contact us for a custom quote” theatrics, no stock photography of people in suits pointing at screens. If you ended up here, you probably already know someone who sent you.

main_street.md

If you run a small business in central New Hampshire and your website is embarrassing you, or you don’t have one and customers keep asking, we should talk. What you’ll get is a site that loads fast, reads clearly on a phone, and shows up when someone types “[thing you do] near me” — built on infrastructure that doesn’t fall over, for a price that reflects a neighbor doing honest work, not an agency doing billable hours.

Heads up on how this actually works: I build these around a full-time IT job and a single-parent household. You’ll get honest turnaround commitments, thoughtful async, and meetings on evenings or weekends — not same-hour replies or drop-everything availability. If that fits your pace, we may be a fit.
